Senior Space Telecommunications Engineer Vacancy
Original Advert
At SATLANTIS, we design advanced space technologies to tackle global challenges from above. Our satellites are conceived, designed, and built to deliver reliable, high-performance Earth observation data in demanding orbital environments.
As a Senior Space Telecommunications Engineer, you will own and evolve our RF capability across the full mission lifecycle, combining hands-on engineering, system-level analysis, and operational responsibility.
What's in it for you
- Ownership of RF systems across the full mission lifecycle: You will lead communication system performance from early design to in-orbit operations.
- Direct impact on real satellite missions: Your work will influence how satellites communicate and deliver data from orbit.
- Hands-on work with flight hardware and ground infrastructure: You will operate close to real systems in both cleanroom and operational environments.
- End-to-end technical scope: You will work across RF analysis, testing, operations, and regulatory domains.
- Strategic responsibility in spectrum and regulatory topics: You will lead ITU filings and ensure compliance throughout the satellite lifecycle.
- Collaboration across hardware and software domains: You will work with software teams on APIs, automation, and ground segment integrations.
Your mission
Your mission will be to ensure the performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of satellite communication systems throughout the mission lifecycle.
By combining rigorous RF engineering with operational awareness, you will enable robust and efficient communication between space and ground segments.
You will:
- You will design and maintain link budgets, ensuring performance margins and end-to-end validation.
- You will lead RF testing, troubleshooting, and validation during AIV and operational phases.
- You will own spectrum regulatory activities, including ITU filings and coordination.
What will set you up for success
- Strong practical understanding of RF systems: Your knowledge of gain/loss budgets, noise, filtering, and antenna concepts will allow you to design and validate reliable links.
- Hands-on experience with RF measurement equipment: Confidence using spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, and similar tools will enable effective troubleshooting and validation.
- Systematic problem-solving approach: Your ability to diagnose issues across RF, IF, baseband, and network layers will be key to ensuring system performance.
- Experience across the communication chain: Exposure to ground stations or satellite communications will help you understand and optimize end-to-end performance.
- Programming and integration mindset: Scripting and API experience will allow you to collaborate on automation and ground segment integration.
- Strong documentation discipline: Clear reporting and structured work will ensure traceability and quality.
- Professional communication in English: You will operate in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
What will make you stand out
- Experience with satellite communications or TT&C systems: This will allow you to contribute with impact from day one.
- Familiarity with ITU processes and spectrum coordination: Experience in regulatory environments will strengthen your ownership of this critical domain.
- Amateur radio or RF personal projects: Demonstrates hands-on passion and deep technical curiosity.
- RF design intuition: Understanding of filtering, matching networks, and EMC practices will improve system robustness.
- Experience with operational tooling and automation: Knowledge of monitoring systems, pipelines, or log analysis will enhance operational reliability.
