Hi there 👋🏼,
I'm Juan, CEO of Invopop. We help global companies like Fever, DeepL, and Booksy issue and receive invoices that comply with local requirements across 25+ countries.
E-invoicing regulation is a core competency at Invopop. It affects what we build, how fast we launch new countries, how we earn customer trust, and how we show up in the market.
For the past three years, I've led regulatory research myself. We now aim to professionalize it and establish the foundation of a robust e-invoice compliance function.
In 2026, we plan to launch in 15 new countries and triple our business. Analyzing regulations and translating them into clear documentation, customer advice, and product decisions is essential for us. That's why we're hiring a VP of E-Invoicing Regulation.

About Invopop
Governments are moving toward real-time invoice reporting. For global companies, that creates a messy web of country-specific rules, formats, APIs, and deadlines.
Invopop abstracts that complexity behind a single, modern, developer-friendly API.
We're the flexible, API-first alternative to legacy providers such as EDICOM, Vertex, and Pagero, and to rigid ERP modules that weren't built for real-time, cross-border scale.
But our ambition goes far beyond compliance: we want to help build the next generation of global financial infrastructure - think the next SAP built from Europe.
Founded by Sam Lown (co-founder & CTO of Cabify) and Juan Moliner (ex-BCG), backed by Y Combinator, we operate in 25+ countries today and are expanding fast.
Your mission as VP of E-Invoicing Regulation
You'll be the person we (and our customers) trust on e-invoicing regulation and indirect tax.
What you'll own:
Be our subject-matter expert on global e-invoicing regulation
Write content (blog posts, docs) on e-invoicing regulation
Support product, engineering, sales, and support teams with regulatory insight
Own and improve Invopop's internal regulatory knowledge base
Define the country launch roadmap & lead the regulatory side of every launch
Your journey at Invopop
Here's what success looks like over time.
Month 1
Get up to speed on the product, customers, and existing regulatory knowledge
Own one upcoming country launch on the regulatory side.
Start answering real customer/prospect questions with the team
Publish your first piece of content (e.g., a country mandate explainer)
Propose the structure and operating rhythm for our knowledge base
Month 3
Ship your first country launch together with a product engineer
Become the default point of contact for regulatory questions across the company
Start representing Invopop externally in events/webinars
Work with marketing to consistently publish authorative content
Begin leveraging AI and tooling to speed up regulatory research
Month 6
Define the long-term shape of our compliance function
Build a scalable model for supporting launches and customer questions
Lay the foundations for a new einvoicing advisory service
Start shaping hiring needs (or the next roles) as the scope grows
Who we're looking for
Must-have
3+ years of experience in indirect tax, VAT, or similar regulatory domains
Native or bilingual English. Spanish is not required.
Strong writing: you can turn dense regulation into crisp, actionable guidance
Founder mentality: you take responsibility, make tradeoffs, and operate well with ambiguity
Nice to have
Experience with e-invoicing/e-reporting frameworks
Comfort around technical products (APIs, ERPs, billing systems), even if you're not an engineer
Startup / scale-up experience
Hands-on experimentation with applying AI to tax or regulatory research
Where you'll work
We're based in Madrid, at Calle Guadalquivir 22 (El Viso), a 5-minute walk from Nuevos Ministerios.
We trust people to organize their work in the way that makes them most productive (no fixed schedule). That said, we've learned that high-context work moves faster in person, so we expect at least 3 days per week in the office.
