Senior Platform Engineer

Original Advert

Our client is a purpose-driven software company focused on the social impact sector, building innovative SaaS solutions that empower nonprofits, donors, and communities to operate more efficiently and maximize their impact.

We're hiring an experienced Senior Platform Engineer who is relentlessly focused on CI/CD speed and reliability. Executes infrastructure and platform work under the Platform Architect's direction during the initial stabilization phase - with a singular priority: make the pipeline fast. Fast builds, fast deploys, ephemeral environments that spin up automatically on every PR and tear down after merge. Every minute saved in the pipeline multiplies across the entire engineering team. After platform work completes, shifts into product capability teams as a strong backend/infra-aware generalist.

What You Will Build

  • CI/CD pipeline optimization - fast builds, parallel test execution, deploy-on-

merge with rollback

  • Automated ephemeral environments - PR-triggered full-stack environments that

provision, run tests, and tear down without manual intervention

  • IaC modules for shared infrastructure components

  • GitHub Actions workflows for automated testing, linting, and deployment

  • Deployment pipeline metrics and continuous optimization (build times, deploy

frequency, failure rates)

  • Secret management patterns using AWS Secrets Manager and SSM Parameter

Store

  • After initial phase: backend services for program administration workflows and

reporting data pipelines

Required Skills

  • Expert use of AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or equivalent)

  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK, or equivalent)

  • Serverless framework experience (SST, Serverless Framework, or equivalent)

  • AWS: Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, PrivateLink

  • CI/CD pipeline design and optimization (GitHub Actions, build caching, parallelization)

  • TypeScript / Node.js (for serverless function development)

  • Aurora PostgreSQL (schema awareness, connection management)

  • Linux, Docker, container orchestration basics

Nice to Have

  • Observability tooling (structured logging with Pino, distributed tracing)

  • Load testing (K6)
