ABOUT THE JOB

The Global Insight and Foresight team supports the future-proofing of the House of CHANEL, on company and brand topics, globally. The department conducts proprietary research (quantitative, qualitative, social listening...) to inform decision making across the House for all its activities.

Part of the Global Insight and Foresight mission is to detect and narrate to the organization important emerging trends, transformative forces, and cultural shifts in different domains (social; technological; environmental; economical; political), industry-related or people-related - happening today or that could one day impact our clients, brand, business, and the company.

As the future is not a source of data and truth, we aim at using our deep understanding of the present to project and foresee possible or plausible futures that may or may not have an impact for the House.

The Global Insight and Foresight department is based in Paris and led from London. It is organized in 3 practices: Consumer and People Insight, Business & Economic Insight, and Foresight & Future Planning.

The Senior Lead, Foresight and Future Planning role will report to the Head of Foresight and Future Planning. This role will be based in Paris and will include regular travels to London.

The main missions include:

• TREND WATCHING AND CULTURAL SHIFTS ANALYSIS - The main role of the Senior Lead, Foresight & Future Planning is to collect signals and proofs of change within cultures and societies, globally (our "Corpus"). Part of their mission is to organize these signals thematically and project their impact on the brand and organization in the form of stories, scenarios, and presentations. The Senior Lead, Foresight & Future Planning creates impactful narratives around future-forward themes, trends and disruptions; to help the House prepare for the future.

• EXPERTISE LEADERSHIP - The Senior Lead, Foresight & Future Planning helps to shape and move the foresight expertise forward, within the team and across the House. In the team, by naturally connecting it to the Insight practice and build echo, connections, and bridges with our current activity, as well as to future-proof current approaches and methodologies. In the House, by engaging internal global audiences through workshops and conversations, creating enthusiasm for foresight strategy and ensuring a broad adoption of foresight content and tools.

• NETWORK BUILDING - Part of the mission is to grow roots in the Foresight world and be visible as a company with a genuine interest in the field. Meeting with experts, reporting on the conversations, taking parts in tables rondes, summits etc. is key in muscling foresight at CHANEL.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• You have 7/10-year experience in foresight / strategic planning.

• You are both a leading expert and a hands-on contributor, producing high-quality work while setting direction for the practice.

• International profile - English as mother tongue is preferable. French speaking is a plus.

• Charisma, natural authority yet humility regarding one's position and contribution (informing decision making versus deciding)

• Ability to bring clarity to complex topics

• Ability to think critically and creatively, to formulate and communicate your own unique point of view

• Ability to activate and grow external networks of experts in different domains, sorting out what can really make an impact

• You have solid storytelling, presentation, and influencing skills to navigate an intercultural, complex, and emotional organization

• Embody your findings and socialize them in an impactful and transformative way
