Role description
Booking Holdings Inc. is looking for an experienced lawyer to join our Legal Team as Fintech Procurement Counsel to provide global legal support from our Center of Excellence (COE) located in Bucharest, Romania.
The successful candidate will advise on a range of commercial and technology contracts related to our expanding payments and financial services activities, act as a trusted advisor to our business as well advise on a variety of other contracts and projects supporting the Booking Holdings Legal team.
This is a great opportunity for a collaborative, agile and creative legal counsel to help develop, launch, and enable our mission to deliver a world-class payments operation to support our global brands. As you do so, you will advise on a range of legal questions related to our commercial strategy, demonstrating your familiarity with global financial services, regulatory contexts and the industry commercial considerations that enable payment services at this scale.
This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Manage a diverse range of procurement agreements for Booking Holdings, which may be used by our global subsidiaries, with a focus on: regulatory & compliance vendors, financial systems vendors, tech consulting and professional services and marketing/IT vendors;
Provide advice on legal questions needed to unlock challenges and move commercial agreements forward;
Draft and negotiate procurement agreements, leveraging our own precedents and templates where appropriate and working with third party paper in other contexts, and managing the process from inception through to signature;
Work directly and regularly with the procurement team, relevant stakeholders, and the wider global business as a reliable and commercial-minded legal point of contact;
Master applicable processes and guidelines relating to contract intake and review and provide support to the Booking Holdings' Legal team in order to update and implement such processes and guidelines;
Be well-structured, clear and organized, with an ability to prioritize and drive progress within a very fast paced environment;
Attend and contribute to the regular meetings of the Booking Holdings' Legal team and other attorneys and key subject matter experts at affiliated brands;
Demonstrate a collaborative approach to getting the job done, with a range of stakeholders both within the business and externally;
Develop and deliver guidance documents and training material for teams within the business;
Other related responsibilities supporting the Booking Holdings Legal team as needed, including but not limited to creating vendor contracting playbooks, templates, and applicable policies, assisting with training the business, subsidiary-related commercial projects, intercompany arrangements, etc.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Legal, regulatory and negotiation skills:
EU law degree
At least 5 years' experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house team
Relevant post-qualification experience (in-house or private practice) and strong technical knowledge and drafting experience related to commercial contracts, including complex partnerships with compliance vendors, outsourcing relationships and other technology and vendor contracting.
Experience advising on these types of agreements in the financial services industry context (including exposure to the EBA outsourcing regime and DORA) would be a significant advantage.
Knowledge of global privacy legal regulations and requirements and familiarity with privacy provisions in agreements is advantageous.
Familiarity with English law, US law and Dutch law contracts would be a plus.

Fluency in English - Ability to work and communicate directly in English is essential.
