As a Buyer, you'll be at the heart of an exciting new West Apron Vehicle Underpass project at Dublin Airport. Join our dynamic team and make a difference!
The Buyer will play a key role in the Project's sourcing capabilities and supply chain. The role holder will be responsible for finding and evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts and acquiring the most cost-efficient and timely deals without compromising on quality.

Key Responsibilities include:
Assist in developing and implementing a purchasing strategy for the project, in alignment with the Company's business strategy.
Challenge, enhance and standardise existing procurement practices to ensure conformity of approach, generate economies of scale and deliver better value for money.
Take responsibility for placing site procurement orders.
Procure subcontractors/ suppliers including negotiating and agreeing contract terms and conditions.
Cultivate good working relationships with subcontractors/ suppliers, using influencing and negotiating skills to secure best value outcomes.
Carry out regular meetings with all internal and external parties, ensuring any disputes are resolved in a timely fashion.
Ensure colleagues are fully aware of the rights and obligations of all contractors, subcontractors and the suppliers.
Ensure subcontractors, vendors and suppliers are following the relevant project requirements, using the relevant standards and contract technical specifications requirements.
Ensure all colleagues and subcontractors follow the Project Quality Management System of and the requirements of the Subcontract Agreement / purchase order.
Ensure subcontractors, vendors and suppliers are following all relevant employer, legal and regulatory requirements.
Clarify with subcontractors, suppliers, and any other party any uncertainty that may arise concerning the scope of the works and request or approve changes to the scope as necessary.
Ensure subcontracts/ purchase orders are prepared and monitored in accordance with the Contract and Project Quality Management System requirements.
Contractual management of suppliers until completion of works including recording and reporting of contractual incidences.
Provide the necessary liaison and co-ordination between the Financial and Commercial Departments and any other relevant departments on the project.
Co-ordinate interfaces with other department managers and with stakeholders, vendors, suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare the prequalification documents, the material approval submittals and the equivalent alternative proposal when required.
Prepare and manage the samples submittals.
Liaise with applicable legal and regulatory entities and follow the BREEAM requirements.
Build good working relationships with all staff those working within the project, help to motivate them and develop their understanding of procurement
Essential criteria:
Legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland
Willingness to complete a 5-year background screening as part of the hiring process
Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or or another related field.
Minimum of 2 years of buyer experience in a similar role.
Excellent verbal & written communication skills with an ability to communicate with people across a wide range of business functions
Excellent influencing and negotiating skills with the capacity to wield authority and secure best value outcomes.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Experience of shaping both the procurement and commercial strategy of the organisation
Knowledge of procurement procedures and practices, including aspects of negotiation and contract law, as well as a dexterity in reading the market
Proven experience in the development and implementation of procurement and supply chain tools, techniques and practices.
Demonstrated track record of delivering results and achieving cost savings and improvements in other supply chain metrics.
Skilled in managing stock levels.
Proven capability in ensuring working capital levels are in line with business plans.
Ability to work under pressure, manage conflicting demands, assess priorities and proactively work to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary project team environment.
Proficient with computer software including the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Outlook and Excel.
Desirable criteria:
Knowledge of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
