Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor at Magna Engineered Glass will assume a key role in managing a team of maintenance / controls technicians. This position will be pivotal in providing technical leadership, overall direction, and coordination in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws. The Maintenance Supervisor will be integral in ensuring seamless technical support for each production shift, contributing significantly to the efficiency and reliability of equipment operations. Responsibilities encompass strategic planning, performance evaluation, hiring and fostering continuous growth and development within the maintenance / technical team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance Principles:

  • Oversee the proper cleaning, repairs, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring the implementation and adherence to a robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) system to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and improve equipment to meet equipment availability goals (OEE).
  • Demonstrate, instruct, and apply technical problem-solving techniques, and effective reporting methods for technical team development.
  • Develop, establish, and maintain procedures, as well as standards of workmanship and reporting formats, to ensure consistency and excellence in technical work.
  • Collaborate in the automation of existing processes, aiming to control costs, drive consistency, and meet evolving demand requirements.

Leadership Development:

  • Coordinate and foster the professional development of the maintenance / technical team members, actively contributing to technical areas as a hands-on leader.
  • Facilitate the cross functional training of team members to maximize flexibility within department.
  • Champion a workplace culture committed to safety, health, and environmental compliance. Encourage active employee participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support and provide direction to all staff within the department through global effective goals/objectives setting performance monitoring and reviews, communication, and the execution of on-the-job training and development plans.
  • Responsible for supporting departmental safety performance, including meeting measurable safety goals, enforcing safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with safety policies. Must lead by example and take corrective action when safety standards are not met.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years experience managing technical team members in automotive manufacturing setting, bachelors of science in engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years utilizing CMMS.
  • Proven competency in monitoring a PM program
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated capability to communicate effectively. English proficiency required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills in a participative work environment with a strong emphasis on teaching these skills to others.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to direct and lead others through daily assignments, special projects, and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office Environment: 40%
  • Plant Environment: 60%
  • The employee must be able to tolerate sitting/standing for extended periods of time.
  • It requires (Near/Far/Depth/Color) vision in order to be able to tolerate the eye strain associated with working on a computer throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse on average of 6 hours per workday.
  • While working in the Plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
  • This role operates primarily in a manufacturing facility. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, visit suppliers, or other specific purposes. Travel requirements for this position are estimated at less than 5% of the time and will typically be local or domestic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged standing at least 8 hours, but up to 12 hours per day
  • Lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds multiple times per hour.
  • Repetitive bending, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Repetitive use of hands, including gripping, grasping, pinching, squeezing
