About Laldia Container Terminal (LCT)
Laldia Container Terminal (LCT) is a joint venture between APM Terminals and QNS Container Services Ltd. The project involves the development of a new greenfield container terminal in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Once commissioned, LCT will significantly enhance Bangladesh's port capacity, strengthen regional trade connectivity, and support Maersk and other customers with improved operational efficiency and service reliability.

Role Overview
The purpose of this position is to support the Terminal Head of Finance and collaborate closely with the Terminal Managing Director, Project Director, and other key functions in the overall management of the project, with a strong focus on establishing the finance function and related processes. The role includes supporting the setup and continuous monitoring of governance, accounting and reporting, financial and operational controls, performance management, funding, procurement, taxation, preparation of board reporting and insurance. It ensures full compliance and close coordination with shareholder, HQ functions as well as local authorities. Additionally, the position is responsible for tracking the project budget, expenditure and managing reporting requirements of banks and internal stakeholders. It also includes establishing, implementing, and operating an interim financial system during the startup phase, followed by transitioning to APMT corporate systems once the terminal becomes operational.

Role Overview

The Finance Business Partner will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Finance (HOF) in establishing and managing the finance function for the Laldia Container Terminal project. Working closely with the Managing Director, Project Director and cross-functional teams, the role will focus on building robust finance processes, governance frameworks, financial reporting structures and operational controls during the project and startup phases. This role combines strategic finance partnering with hands-on operational execution, ensuring the project operates within budget, meets financial governance requirements, and transitions smoothly into APM Terminals' corporate systems once the terminal becomes operation

Key Responsibilities

  • Finance Function Setup & Governance Support the establishment of the finance function for the LCT project in collaboration with the Head of Finance.
  • Design and implement finance processes, policies, and internal controls aligned with APM Terminals standards
  • Ensure compliance with shareholder agreements, concession agreements, financing arrangements, and internal policies
  • Work closely with local authorities and HQ teams to ensure regulatory and financial compliance

Accounting, Systems & Financial Reporting

  • Coordinate with external accounting service providers during the initial phase to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting.
  • Provide the required inputs and ensure internal coordination to support accounting activities.
  • Support the transition from interim financial systems to **APM Terminals corporate finance systems once implemented.
  • Participate in system implementation, testing, and validation in collaboration with HQ implementation teams.
  • Coordinate monthly financial reporting, including accruals, reconciliations, andOneStreamreporting.
  • Ensure timely completion of:
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Vendor reconciliations
  • Financial close processes

Financial Planning, Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in alignment with HQ timelines.
  • Track project expenditure against approved budgets and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the Project Controls team on cash flow forecasting and funds utilization.
  • SupportInvestment Follow-Up (IFU)processes, including scenario analysis and assumption tracking.
  • Transition focus from project monitoring to operational performance management once the terminal becomes operational.

Banking, Treasury & Funding

  • Coordinate with banks and financial institutions on project funding and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare cash flow analysis and funds flow reports to optimize liquidity and minimize idle balances.
  • Perform maker/checker responsibilities on banking transactions and proposals in accordance with internal control frameworks.

Stakeholder Management & Board Reporting

  • Prepare finance presentations and materials for Board meetings and joint venture partner engagements.
  • Support the Head of Finance and Managing Director in interactions with:
  • Joint venture partners
  • Financial institutions (includingInternational Finance Corporation)
  • Government authorities
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders, lenders, and regulatory bodies.

Project & Operational Support

  • Partner with the Head of Finance to support overall project governance and financial oversight.
  • Monitor the quality and delivery of financial outputs from external consultants and internal teams.
  • Operate effectively in a lean startup environment, balancing strategic priorities with hands-on execution.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial business partnering.
  • Experience in project environments, infrastructure projects, or capital-intensive industries is preferred.
  • Prior experience in finance function setup, regulatory compliance, banking, treasury, or taxation is advantageous.
  • Experience working with external auditors, consultants, or financial institutions is beneficial.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong financial acumen with a solid understanding of accounting, financial controls, and reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a startup or project environment with evolving processes and systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.

Education

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • Degree inFinance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
