Key Responsibilities
As a Project Cost Engineer, you will:
- Manage and maintain project cost control, including forecasts for capital investments and operational expenditures.
- Own and update the project budget against the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and ensure transparency of cost performance.
- Build reliable Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) forecasts using recognized industry approaches.
- Track and validate Value of Work Done (VOWD), supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) and variance analysis.
- Evaluate resource requirements, productivity data, commitments, and cost variances to guide decision-making.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, project progress summaries, cash-flow plans, and accrual documentation.
- Support change management processes, including quantifying budget and scope adjustments and updating baselines.
- Manage the allocation and drawdown of contingencies and allowances, ensuring alignment with risk assessments.
- Oversee contract-related cost administration, invoice validation, and financial close-out activities.
- Develop ROFO (Rolling Forecast) and support on IFU (Investment Follow-up) processes.
- Review and control bank guarantees and insurance policies related to project contracts.
What We Are Looking For
Continuous improvement mindset: We are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement - someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day.
Additionally, you bring:
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in infrastructure, marine terminal, or industrial construction project environments.
- Proven ability to manage the full project cost lifecycle, from conceptual estimates to contract close-out and reporting.
- Strong technical proficiency in EAC/ETC forecasting, cost variance analysis, and data extraction from enterprise systems (IFS, SAP, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex modelling and dataset analysis to detect early cost or productivity deviations.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to translate technical progress into financial impacts for stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or similar).
