Synthix is a Deutsche Bank-backed SaaS fintech building multi-bank, treasury, and payment orchestration platforms. We connect corporate clients with banks, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and ERP systems at scale. While closely integrated with Deutsche Bank's ecosystem, Synthix operates as a standalone, unregulated fintech with its own technology, data, and operating model.

As Synthix scales, we require senior, hands-on legal and technology risk leadership to ensure our products, client contracts, data usage, and operating model are robust, defensible, and future-proof in a fast-evolving regulatory and technology landscape.

Your key responsibilities

• Own and lead first-line risk management for Synthix, acting as the primary risk adviser to product, engineering, and commercial teams

• Advise on fintech, payments, technology (with a focus on AI), and data protection law, translating legal obligations into practical, scalable controls for a SaaS platform

• Define and manage Synthix's risk posture as an unregulated, DB-backed fintech, including interface with Deutsche Bank governance, Legal, Compliance, and Risk functions

• Lead client assurance, due diligence, and contractual risk discussions, clearly articulating Synthix's legal, regulatory, and data risk position to clients and procurement teams

• Own incident response and post-incident risk assessment, including data, technology, outsourcing, and client-impacting events

• Embed risk-by-design principles into product architecture, AI usage, data models, and payments flows without slowing delivery

Your skills and experience

• LLM-qualified lawyer with strong academic grounding in financial services, payments, technology, or data law

• Hands-on experience working inside a fintech (as legal counsel, compliance, data protection, or risk), preferably in payments, banking-as-a-service, or SaaS platforms

• Deep working knowledge of payments regulation, fintech law, outsourcing, data protection (UK/EU GDPR), and technology risk

• Proven ability to advise on AI, data usage, platform architecture, and emerging technology risk from a legal and regulatory perspective

• Experience managing risk for unregulated or lightly regulated entities operating alongside regulated banks or financial institutions

• Demonstrated ability to personally own risk decisions and provide clear, pragmatic advice - not consulting or theoretical ERM
