Booking Holdings is currently undergoing a Finance Transformation initiative that will drive effective finance support for business management; promote strong governance and control in the organization; and have a world-class finance organization in terms of execution and efficiency. As part of this initiative, the Global Business Services team provides centralized operational accounting processes from our Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, India. Reporting to the Record-to-Report (RTR) Center Lead, this role will be responsible for helping drive standardized global processes, leveraging best-in-class technology being implemented globally, and ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures.

This role will also function as a primary BlackLine Business Administrator, leveraging deep subject matter expertise to manage and maximize our investment in this critical platform. In this capacity, this role will not only support the global user base, but also strategically partner with finance leadership to align BlackLine's capabilities-including account reconciliation, transaction matching, and journal entry management-with our overarching goals for a world-class finance organization.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversight and standardization of the Record-to-Report (RTR) processes globally.

  • Driving implementation of process improvements. Tracking open items, testing, defect resolution, and providing general production support activities.

  • Advancing and accelerating the close processes, increasing the efficiency of accounting processes and timeliness of deliverables.

  • Guiding operational accounting teams to handle and solve complex bottlenecks and issues, for all matters impacting RTR accounting.

  • Serving as the financial/accounting subject matter expert to business partners with respect to RTR processes.

  • Ability to provide guidance on both the technical and business aspects of the RTR processes.

  • Working with Risk & Controls teams to identify risks, and design or enhance processes and controls needed to comply with Company policies.

  • Acting as a business administration lead for any issues relating to BlackLine financial close software as well as ensuring timely and accurate processing of all BlackLine requests from global users

  • Defining and driving strategy, implementing automation, improving user satisfaction and operational efficiencies to obtain measurable business value.

  • Partnering with business and operational accounting teams to identify opportunities for process optimization, and design future state processes.

  • Building automated journal definitions, transaction matching pass rules, and other enhancements within BlackLine.

  • Testing in BlackLine to ensure newly implemented and existing functionality is working as intended. Performing system integration testing between BlackLine and other financial systems.

  • Supporting business teams during user acceptance testing, aligning the required approvals, and partnering with System Administrators to deploy changes to production environments.

  • Participating in broader BlackLine related projects and proactively identifying technologies that can improve productivity in BlackLine and beyond - such as Intercompany hub, transaction matching, etc.

  • Identify efficiencies in processes and internal controls related to the business or financial processes

  • Demonstrating crisp communication skills, communicating project status to a broad audience and being willing to follow appropriate escalation channels to ensure delivery as planned.

  • Determine enhancements to processes and implement them while maintaining strong internal control

  • Be internal control focused to ensure our control environment remains strong

  • Be customer service focused to help employees with BlackLine or other issues that arise

  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualification and Experience

  • 8-10+ years of experience in Finance and Accounting or 7+ years in Financial/Business Consulting

  • 2+ years of experience as Business Admin or BlackLine

  • Implementation, preferably within Big 4 and/or multinational corporate environment

  • 5+ years of experience with transformation and process improvements

  • Broad financial systems experience preferred

  • Advanced understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and SOX

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • BlackLine certifications; Financial Close Administrator preferred

  • Solid understanding of BlackLine modules, including Account Reconciliation, Journals, Transaction Matching, and Intercompany preferably from a consulting background

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle preferred)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Understanding of internal controls with systems and process

  • Strong analytical skills when analyzing financial data

  • Demonstrated business savvy to engage users to understand their underlying requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fluid organization

  • Candidate should demonstrate effective collaboration skills up, down, and across the organization

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport, and influence stakeholders

  • Experience with BlackLine Administration and integrations with financial systems

  • Experience of working in a shared service or large multinational company environment

  • Knowledge of financial close processes

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
