We are seeking a highly driven, credentialled actuary to join a team of highly motivated, forward thinking pricing actuaries, specializing in middle market risks, to ensure AXA XL remains a leader in the field of Inland Marine technical pricing and portfolio management. The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate across functions with technical skills to support evolving pricing and analytic needs to drive profitability. What you'll be DOING Provide decision making guidance throughout the entire underwriting process, using advanced analytics to drive superior business performance. Support and enhance technical pricing and portfolio management capabilities for Inland Marine including the development, testing, and calibration of pricing models and dashboards alongside a central Models team. Portfolio management activities including annual selection of the portfolio base loss ratio for business planning and trend analysis of the claims, profitability studies on segments within the portfolio to drive growth strategy, deep dives into any underperforming segments, biannual calibration review of the pricing tools, and dashboard maintenance. Account case pricing and effectively communicating selections to underwriters. Regular metrics reporting such as the monthly renewal price monitor, with ability to communicate rationale for any deviations from plan seen. Reinsurance support as needed, including data calls and treaty analysis as needed. Conduct training for underwriters regarding actuarial models and methodologies. Ensure compliance with pricing guidelines and help drive appropriate consistency in pricing. Ensure compliance with filed rates for local regulators. You will report to the Senior Actuary sitting in the Middle Market Actuarial team within AXA XL Pricing & Analytics division. What you will BRING We are seeking a highly driven, credentialled actuary to ensure AXA XL remains a leader in the field Qualification level - Actuarial accreditation; ACAS or near-ACAS preferred. Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field. Relevant work experience in P&C insurance pricing. Advanced analytical skills and ability to manipulate or handle large datasets; technical aptitude with some computer programming experience preferred. Proficiency with Excel and Access required; Experience in using R, Python, Shiny apps, Guidewire, Emblem, SQL, Qlikview or other programming languages in a commercial environment. Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure as well as delivering to deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and apply critical thinking and creativity to solve problems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and part of a team. Excellent verbal communications skills to gain buy-in to communicate clearly and concisely with underwriters and colleagues from other function. The U.S. base salary range for this position is $101,400- $175,00 USD. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location.
