Acciona is looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor role to be based in London UK, in E4 8JG.
Role:
TheSQSwill play a key commercial role within a multi‑disciplinary EPC delivery team on a Waste‑to‑Energy (WtE) project. TheSQSwill take full commercial responsibility for Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) subcontract packages-from procurement through to final account-ensuring cost certainty, contractual compliance, and commercial governance across the project lifecycle.
This role requires knowledge of M&E systems, EPC delivery environments, and IChemE and other contract forms.
Main Responsibilities:
• Commercial management of subcontract packages from tender selection to final account including:
- Management of Procurement Strategies for M&E Subcontractors and Specialist Suppliers, including Tendering, Bid Evaluation, and Recommendation Reports.
- Develop M&E Bills of Quantities, Scopes of Work, and Tender Documentation.
- Coordination with the Construction, Procurement and Finance Departments in the closing of Subcontracts.
- Subcontract Negotiation,
- Preparation of Subcontracts and all Associated Documentation,
- Administering Subcontracts and Ensuring Compliance with the Contract Mechanisms (e.g. Notices, Early Warnings etc.)
- Preparing Contractual Correspondence and Communications with Subcontractors
- Applications for Payment / Certification,
- Conduct site visits to Verify Progress, Measure Completed Works and Ensure Accurate Valuation.
- Change Management, Variations / Field Extra Work Order Management (FEWO),
- Back Charge Management
- Final Account Settlement
- Claims and Dispute Management.
- Coordination with Project Control (Planning and Cost Control) and On-Site Engineering Delivery Team.
- Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Construction Teams to ensure Accurate Cost Control and Commercial Alignment.
- Contribute to Risk Workshops, Programme Reviews, and Multidisciplinary Planning Sessions.
- Promote Strong Commercial Discipline and Continuous Improvement Across the Project.
Required Skills and Competencies
Role Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (BSc Hons) or master's degree (MSc) in Quantity Surveying or a related field (preferred).
Professional Membership:
MRICS membership or actively working towards achieving MRICS status (preferred).
Industry Experience:
• Proven Senior QS experience managing M&E subcontract packages on major infrastructure or energy projects such as Energy from Waste (EfW), Oil & Gas, Chemical, or Nuclear.
• Experience working for an EPC contractor or major M&E subcontractor.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (e.g., boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, flue gas treatment, HV/LV electrical systems).
• Knowledge of the IChemE suite of contracts.
• Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and risk management capability.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontract packages simultaneously in a fast‑paced EPC environment.
